Free Day!
What does that mean?
In our context here, it means taking a break from diet and exercise. I mean, we have a life too and we need to enjoy it once in a while. We need to address our sweet cravings from time to time and be happy. Let us not deprive ourselves from the joy of eating-out! ;)

So, every FREE Day, I will also give you some ideas how to enjoy it! :)

For our first FREE Day, I suggest you treat yourself with something delicious!

Recently, I've been craving for Pastel. Well, if you don't know what it is yet, it's a soft chewy bun with a sweet and creamy custard filling. Simply irresistible! Gotta get one now! It's a FREE Day anyway!

One of the best pastel I've tasted is from Missy Bon Bon Breadshop here in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. Visit their website for more details.

Aging 101: How to grow old gracefully and beautifully?

Why afraid aging? Aging is such a wonderful thing. Those who are going to their senior years have a certain dignified aura which results from having a more mature responsible mind and heart. However, some people would not appreciate their older age because of what they see in front of the mirror. Most insecurities on this stage results from having the signs of aging like wrinkles and lines in the faces which should be considered as normal. Well, if you are one of these persons, the problem is actually easy to combat. But you need to have discipline. It's plain simple though. After all, aging comes with maturity.

So, how to grow old gracefully and beautifully? Here are a few simple tips:

  • Exercise daily. One of the things that makes aging difficult is stress and it really would show in the physical appearance. And there is no better stress-reliever than having a regular work-out as it blows out negative toxins and energies in the body. It will leave you refreshed each time.
  • Maintain a healthy diet. When coupled with exercise, a balanced diet will give you a better health and better look.
  • Invest in skincare. The signs of aging will really show off as it is considered normal but investing in skincare and going to the dermatologist will minimize the appearance of these wrinkles, etc. Using age-appropriate skin care products recommended by a doctor such as moisturizers  will help keep the skin hydrated. Products with SPF is also very helpful.
  • Be stylish. Experiment with colors and fashion trends that would make you glow, classy, and elegant... despite the age. Ask some help, ideas, and recommendations from friends and family members who have a good taste in fashion.
  • Keep yourself busy. Continue to explore the beauty of the world and appreciate what you have. Be updated with the latest technology or learn a new hobby. This will make you more confident and graceful.
  • Find a support group. Find a community of people with similar beliefs and outlook in life. Find joy in being with people.
Most importantly, allow yourself to be happy. Do not cling on to the past failures and negative experiences. Surround yourself with things that will give you joy. Because when you are happy, age will only come in number but will not show in the face.

Grow old gracefully! :)

Running 101: Sunscreen for the Race Day

You maintained a healthy lifestyle. You've trained. You've got the right shoes, outfit, and gear. You had a good sleep. You are now prepared for that big race day. What more? Don't forget to take care of your skin!

Most of the races happen at dawn but some of 'em end up until early morning when the sun is already out. You might still be in the middle of running when the sun is making her way up, so make sure to protect your skin and get yourself covered.

How? By putting on sunscreen which blocks the sun's harmful UVA and UVB rays. Isn't it nice to finish a race with a bright, glowing smooth skin as if nothing happened?

There are lot of sunscreens available in the market. For runners, it is best to use those with SPF 40+.

There are two products which I highly recommend.

One of which is the NEUTROGENA Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55. It's waterproof, sweat proof, and non-comedogenic. Visit Neutrogena's website for more information.

Diet 101: Nova Multigrain Snack Bars

In my previous blogs, I have been endorsing some healthier food products which helped me lose weight in the past couple of months. Once again, I have found out another healthier, better snack alternative in the form of Multigrain Snack Bars. There are lots of snack bars available in the market. One of which is the Nova Mutigrain Snack Bars.

Aside from having a delicious taste and a very cheap price, it is composed of a variety of natural grains which contains lower calories than most of the junk foods in the market.
So far, there is one flavor available in the market: the Caramel Peanut Crunch which you will surely love!

Go try it! :)

Running 101: Six-weeks Beginners Schedule

Running is one of the best physical fitness regimen one could ever do. It is actually very simple and cheap. One can do it anytime and anywhere. Not only that, there are lots of benefits from it (will be posting from time to time)and it's one of the exercises that would make losing weight faster. Take that from me who has gained the joy in running.

Running, as stated above, is plain simple but running without pain needs a lot of training. For beginners, running could be painful (which will be discussed later on) so it is very important to flex those muscles first before going an extra mile. In the beginning, it is important to follow a walk-jog-walk-jog routine first until the muscles will get used to the pressure of running.

So if you're interested to start your own running program, I recommend you to take this six-week beginners' schedule which I learned from running books and from my personal running experience. Have a painless run!
